To all Donors associated with the SFMF,
My name is Alfonso Nava and I am writing this letter in regards to a recent stay I spent at the Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military families. First of all, I want to thank everyone who is involved in this this program. It means so much to me and my family to know that there are good people out there that really do care about our countries veterans.
From the moment I made contact with Carla on the phone planning the hunting dates, I could tell she was just a sweet and caring lady. She explained to me how the program worked and encouraged me to bring all of my immediate family if possible. I was so excited to be able and bring my family together and get away from society and just enjoy each other’s company in the outdoors. When we arrived to the cabins my family and I were greeted by Danny SantAngelo. He welcomed us to his ranch with open arms and made us feel as if we had met each other before. After a few minutes a couple of guys who worked for Danny and Carla named Brian and Chris came out and introduced themselves to us and even assisted to help us with our luggage. Shortly after we unloaded our bags and began enjoying the view, I made contact with Carla as she was bringing in groceries to the kitchen. She told us to make ourselves at home and welcomed us all with a warm feeling. As the days went by and the hunts continued my family and I were able to enjoy conversations while having a pleasant view and enjoying home cooked meals. I tell you what, I have never been to a place or even on vacation where, breakfast, lunch and dinner were always on time and delicious as can be. Carla has some of the best recipes up her sleeve and was kind enough to send us back home with a few of them.
Somehow along the planning emails, I misunderstood the departure date given to me by Carla and accidently planned our departure a day late. I explained to Carla and Danny the situation and they said it was not an issue and welcomed us to stay another night. I was extremely happy that they understood my mistake and they assured us that it was not a problem.
The rooms were clean, comforting and had a great outdoors feeling, which I loved. From Danny and Carla, to the hunting guides, the cleaning lady and a few other hunters whom where there at the same time, everyone was so friendly and made the trip feel extremely comfortable. All in all, this was one of the best times I have spent with my family in a long long time. I will be contacting other veteran friends and encouraging them to look into the Sportsmen’s Foundation for Military families. Once again I would like to say thank you to everyone who is involved in this program. Thank you and God Bless.
